Magnetic Resonance Imaging System

Slides on magnetic resonance imaging, built on nuclear magnetic resonance tomography, which uses magnetic fields and radio frequency signals to obtain anatomical information. Works through the reconstruction techniques, including the sequential point method, which divides the sample volume into points along three axes and so fixes the number of NMR signal values that must be acquired, and through the parts of the system: the magnet and its field, the gradient coils, the radio frequency system, the detection system that yields the output signal and the imager that reconstructs and displays the images. Treats biological effects, with heating among the potential hazards, and the advantages of the method, superior contrast between near-identical soft tissues, cross-sectional images in any orientation rather than only at right angles as in computed tomography, and contrast that can be chosen by mechanism.
