EEE 400: Communication System I First Semester Examination
Communications paper. Describes the basic components of a communication system with their functions, illustrates amplitude and frequency modulation with sketches, and gives the reasons for modulating a signal. The calculation takes a single-tone modulating signal acting on a carrier at ten megahertz with a frequency deviation of seventy-five kilohertz to the modulation index and the phase deviation produced, then defines multiplexing with two schemes and the advantage frequency modulation holds over amplitude modulation. Closes on the power a double sideband transmitter radiates at a modulation depth of zero point eight and what an amplitude-modulated signal costs when the suppressed carrier form is used instead.
