ECU 500: Engineering Practice and Ethics Continuous Assessment Test

Continuous assessment test of the first semester of the academic year, both questions compulsory. The first asks why a code of ethics is needed for engineers, why the engineer's responsibility to the public is such an important part of that code, and for two aspects of the conduct of engineers where compliance with the code is critical. It then sets a case: the motivation for clean energy development is driven by climate change and one of the environmental degradation concerns, yet geothermal energy, one of the major potential sources, is suspected of being responsible for long-term changes in areas such as the disappearing geysers of Lake Baringo - the dilemma is to be commented on, and an alternative solution suggested with its limitation. The second question takes the role of law in daily life, the difference between criminal and civil law, and arbitration.
