EBM 505: Peripheral and Central Auditory Assessment
Lecture by the unit lecturer, Dr Mbira Gikonyo, on auditory assessment: pure tone audiometry as the most common test and the threshold of audibility, how acoustic energy is formatted into a neural code, air and bone conduction testing and the audiogram produced, tympanometry and the compliance of the tympanic membrane, acoustic reflex measurements, electrocochleography, the auditory brainstem response and otoacoustic emissions, and what each test localises along the peripheral and central auditory pathway.
