Systems Analysis: Scope, Problem and Requirements Analysis

Course lecture on systems analysis, positioning it against the scope definition, problem analysis, requirements analysis, logical design and decision analysis phases. Explains the object-oriented view of a system as a discrete person, object, place, event or thing bundled with the methods allowed to use or update its data, notes that most commercial methodologies do not impose a single approach but integrate structured analysis, information engineering and object-oriented analysis into a common framework, and stresses the distinction between the problem being solved and the system being developed. Includes the structure of the analysis report, with background information, the list of interviews and facilitated group meetings, other sources of information used and the analytical techniques applied, and the separation of mandatory requirements that the minimal first version must satisfy from desirable ones that belong to a later version, ending on the tasks of logical design.
