Course notes that open with the code of ethics and its rules of practice, under which an engineer holds paramount the safety, health, property and welfare of the public in the performance of professional duties, and go on through professional obligations, the engineer's relation to client and contractor, introduction to law, the business units and industrial relations. The larger part of the document reproduces the Engineers Act, No. 43 of 2011, with its provisions on the establishment, functions, meetings and proceedings of the Board, the register of engineers and the qualifications for registration as a professional or consulting engineer, applications to the Registrar on the prescribed form and fee, licence fees and the revenue of the Board, the Board's power to acquire and dispose of property, borrow with the approval of the Cabinet Secretary and enter into contracts, and the recognised professional societies.
