EEE 400: Communication System I Continuous Assessment Test 1
Continuous assessment test in which every question carries equal marks. Covers the components of a communication system with their functions, three devices that convert information into an electrical signal, the reasons for modulating and the limitations of a communication system. Derives the mathematical expression for an amplitude modulated signal, generation of single sideband suppressed carrier with a balanced modulator, the power efficiency of an amplitude modulated system, and the advantages and disadvantages of frequency modulation. Closes on the detection and demodulation methods for a frequency modulated signal and on bandwidth: a system with a maximum deviation of seventy-five kilohertz carrying a ten kilohertz tone, the change in bandwidth when the modulating frequency doubles, and again when its amplitude doubles.
