Engineering Practice and Ethics Handwritten Notes: Institutions, Financial Records and Project Conceptualisation
Handwritten lecture notes, photographed page by page. They set out the engineering profession's own institutions and their membership categories, the officer structure of a professional body with chairperson, vice-chairperson, honorary secretary, treasurer and members, the composition of the registration board with its chairperson, vice-chairperson, secretary and treasurer, and the registers of engineers and of practising licences. The financial half explains why records are kept and how they are analysed, how much revenue was received, how much was spent and how much is owed by debtors, and works through long-term planning and financial reporting: the balance sheet with capital to set up, profits earned during the year, debtors and miscellaneous items, the statement of income and expenditure with revenue, operation and intellectual property, and the liabilities side with statutory liability, debts owed to creditors, salaries and allowances, loans and miscellaneous balances. It closes on project management, beginning with conceptualisation and the terrain, site, existing infrastructure, environment, communications, topography and surveys that a preliminary design depends on.
