EMM 301 and EAR 307: Mechanics of Machines Continuous Assessment Test 1

Continuous assessment test set jointly for the two unit codes. Defines the vocabulary of planar mechanisms: kinematic pair, kinematic chain, degree of freedom and mechanism. The main calculation is a velocity diagram for a linked mechanism in which the crank revolves anticlockwise at sixteen radians per second while a point is constrained to move vertically downwards at two metres per second, with the length and position of each link given: the velocity of the crank pin, the relative velocities along the coupler and the lever, the rubbing velocity at a joint for a thirty millimetre pin, and the velocity of the final point. Closes on mechanical advantage, transmission angle and the instantaneous centre.
